Winick Realty Group Leases Upper West Side Location to Bright Horizons

253-west-72nd-streetBright Horizons Family Solutions, the M.A.-based preschool and early childhood development center with locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe, signed a lease at Brodsky Organization’s 253 West 72nd Street, a luxury residential building located between Broadway and West End Avenue in the heart of the Upper Wes Side.

“The Upper West Side is home to many young families and from the start, we felt that Bright Horizons would be an ideal fit for the space as they are a clean, dry amenity with a beautiful build out that will add great value to the area,” said Winick Realty Group President Steven E. Baker, who represented Brodsky Organization along with Director Charles Rapuano.

Added Rapuano, “This is a great site for them as it not only offers excellent visibility with 50 feet of frontage, but the building is also in close proximity to the express subway stop at West 72nd Street and to Riverside Park.”

Bright Horizons, who will take over the space from long-time tenant Duane Reade in the spring, will occupy 7,667 square feet on he ground floor and 2,000 square feet in the basement. Bright Horizons was represented in the deal by Michael Hoffman and Peter Occhi of Cushman & Wakefield.

“We are happy to welcome Bright Horizons to 253 West 72nd Street, and we look forward to a long relationship,” said Brodsky Organization Principal Alexander Brodsky. “We wanted a great tenant who would offer a great service for the residents of the luxury rentals above, but also for the entire Upper West Side.”

steven-baker-258x300Childcare services provider Bright Horizons Family Solutions signed a 15-year, 10k SF lease for Brodsky Organization’s 253 West 72nd St. Cushman & Wakefield’s Michael Hoffman and Peter Occhi repped Bright Horizons, while Brodsky was repped by Winick Realty Group’s Charles Rapuano and Steven Baker.

CVS signed an 11k SF lease at 532 Neptune Ave—a planned 42-story, 430-foot-tall residential and retail building that’s replacing Trump Village Shopping Center. Winick Realty Group’s Jeff Winick, Lee Block and Darrell Rubens repped the landlord, while CVS didn’t have a broker.

Former Duane Reade Space on West 72nd Street to Become Child-Care Center

253-west-72nd-street-photo-costar-groupBright Horizons Family Solutions will be opening its doors for child-care services at Brodsky Organization’s 253 West 72nd Street, Charles Rapuano of Winick Realty Group told Commercial Observer. The nearly 10,000-square-foot space was formerly occupied by Duane Reade, whose lease expired.

The publicly-traded Bright Horizons has taken 7,667 square feet on the ground floor and 2,000 square feet in the basement (the latter for storage) at the building between West End Avenue and Broadway, said Rapuano, who represented the landlord along with Winick’s Steven Baker.

The lease is for 15 years and the asking rent was $850,000 per year, Rapuano said.

“[The company] just thought it was an asset to the building and the neighborhood,” Rapuano said. The landlord “owns a good amount of buildings up there. Bright Horizons is a very high-credit tenant and they’re publicly traded.”

The building is home to a barber shop and an eyeglass store, each leasing 500 square feet at grade. Upstairs are market-rate rentals.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Michael Hoffman and Peter Occhi represented Bright Horizons. He didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment via a company spokesman.
