Florida-based franchise World of Beer will soon open its first New York location in Chelsea. The cavernous “neighborhood beer tavern” will, like its other locations, have 50 taps and walls lined with coolers to hold the 500-plus types of beer on the menu.

Winick Leases Second Location For GRK Fresh

JosephGRK Fresh, the growing fast-casual Greek restaurant concept operating a successful location at 111 Fulton Street, has signed a lease for its second Manhattan location at 451 Lexington Avenue in the heart of the Grand Central area.

GRK Fresh leased 2,150 square feet of ground-floor space, where they will serve yogurt imported directly from Greece, as well as locally-purveyed meat, fresh vegetables and more to the many office workers and tourists who populate the neighborhood.

According to Winick Realty Group brokers Joseph Isa and Brian Tregerman, who represented GRK Fresh in the lease transaction, the restaurant specifically sought out a Midtown location and the owners were drawn to 451 Lexington Avenue because of its proximity to Grand Central Station and the 42nd Street retail corridor.

Landlord Regency Development was represented by David LaPierre, Sean Moran and Steve Sjurset of CBRE Group.

Welcome to Chelsea beers

World of BeerThe World of Beer is opening in the world of Chelsea.

The Florida-based restaurant has leased 4,500 square feet in the new Chelsea Park apartment building on the southeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street.

Diana Boutross of Winick Realty Group represented the tenant, while colleague Alexander Hill is representing the building which is also getting a new Blink gym.

Asking rents are $130 per square foot on corners and $100 a square foot for an in line spot in that area.

Gallina and Scalzo of NGKF secure 3,600 s/f U.S. flagship for Asics 

kelly-gedinsky-profile-004New to the Meatpacking district is the U.S. flagship store for global retailer Asics. At 3,600 s/f, the 420 West 14th St. location is the first stand-alone store for the 64-year-old brand.

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) Retail’s Trever Gallina and Tyler Scalzo represented Asics. Winick Realty’s Jeff Winick and Kelly Gedinsky represented the landlord.

“There is tremendous energy here in the Meatpacking District, with its proximity to the west side running path and the High Line,” said Gallina. “Asics knows that the customer in the Meatpacking District is a highly sophisticated and selective shopper that appreciates the brand.”

Asics kept much of the original elements of the space including the classic Meatpacking storefront awning and two old metal storage locker doors that will be used as a display table in the storefront display window. Incorporating the new design by world-renowned designers Mapos, the focal point is a running laboratory, which includes scientific analysis of the way a customer runs for customized fittings. The store also features a special showcase of its rare vintage sneakers.

Mishaan of Winick Realty reps Infinity R.E. in 22,500 s/f lease; Chera of Crown Retail reps tenant, Planet Fitness 

1245 fulton st renderingPlanet Fitness, the popular, low-cost fitness chain with locations throughout the United States, has net leased a freestanding building at 1245 Fulton St. in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of the city.

Planet Fitness, who was represented by Richard Chera of Crown Retail, leased 7,500 s/f on the ground floor, second floor and basement, totaling 22,500 s/f of retail space.

Landlord Infinity Real Estate LLC was represented by Winick Realty Group broker Zach Mishaan, who said, “Due to the tenant’s aggressive expansion program and strong area presence, ownership considered Planet Fitness to be an attractive retail tenant.”

1245 Fulton St. is located at the heart of a major retail corridor populated with many name-brand national tenants, including Walgreen’s, Rainbow, Payless Shoe Source and Foot Locker.

Ownership is currently renovating the building to fit the extensive necessities of a gym concept, including the addition of a second floor to what is currently a one-story building. They are expected to open when renovations are completed in January 2015, making them the only gym or fitness facility in the area.

“With this lease, Planet Fitness is facilitating a need for the neighborhood,” said Mishaan.
