‘Food Block’ Gets New Eatery

Indian fusion grill Hot Clay Oven leased a 1,400 s/f restaurant space, the first location in the chain, at 101 Maiden Lane.

Darrell Rubens, senior managing director, and Joshua Singer, associate director, of Winick Realty Group LLC represented the landlord, TF Cornerstone. Barbara Lamb of Prudential Douglas Elliman represented Hot Clay Oven.

Rubens and Singer already leased space for food retailers Goodburger and Prêt a Manger, as well as the Montessori Day School, at the base of the 51-story luxury residential complex known as 2 Gold Street.

The brokers are continuing to market 2,700 s/f of ground-floor space and 11,100 s/f of second-floor space at the building.

They have received interest from unnamed food tenants, “fitting with the nature of the block,” said Singer, “which is a food block.”

Crown Retail Services and Winick Realty Arrange 15,000-SF Retail Lease at Prominent Upper Westside Residential Development

In a transaction arranged by Crown Retail Services (CRS), Duane Reade committed to the last remaining retail space at The Corner at 72nd and Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper Westside.

The most recognized drug store chain in New York City, Duane Reade will occupy approximately 15,000 square feet of space on the second floor of the new residential rental development, located on the highly-trafficked corner of 72nd Street and Broadway. The CRS team represented Philips International and Rhodes NY, the developers of the property, in negotiating the long-term transaction.

“We are pleased to secure such a strong retail tenant for the final remaining space at this newly-built residential development,” said Brittany Bragg, Chief Operating Officer of Crown Retail Services. “There was an extensive search for the right tenant to occupy this final space. The addition of Duane Reade not only provides a valuable amenity to the residents of the luxury rental tower, but to the entire neighborhood.”

Duane Reade, the largest drug store chain in the metropolitan New York City area and part of the Walgreens family of companies, continued its strategic expansion with this new transaction. The property’s additional anchor tenants include the much-anticipated Trader Joe’s market and a Bank of America branch office. Jeffrey Winick of Winick Realty represented Duane Reade in the lease transaction.
