Prime Tribeca opportunities being shopped by Winick

Winick Realty Group has been appointed exclusive leasing agent for 12,900 s/f of retail space at 70 Franklin Street between Franklin Place and Church Street.

The retail space consists of approximately 4,300 s/f on the ground floor and 4,300 s/f on the lower level with up to 16 feet of ceiling heights. The space has a 42 foot frontage on Franklin Street.

“70 Franklin Street provides a unique opportunity to join the many stylish shops and trendy restaurants of this revitalized neighborhood,” commented Lori Shabtai, director of luxury & brand retail, who is working on this project along with Monica Kass and Annie Shinn of Winick.

Winick Realty Group has also been appointed exclusive leasing agent for another Tribeca retail opportunity at 71 Leonard Street, between Broadway and Church Street.

This project, handled by Darrell Rubens, managing director, and Annie Shinn, includes 2,000 s/f on the ground floor, 1,800 s/f on the lower level with up to 18 foot ceilings. The space includes large windows on the lower level and a beautiful skylight on the ground floor, providing excellent light exposure for the tenant.

Franklin Street and Leonard Street are in the heart of Tribeca, which has become one of the trendiest areas in Manhattan. Its history of old warehouses turned into upscale apartments gives the area a perfect mix of culture and booming real estate.

With neighbors such as Tribeca Grand Hotel, Nobu, The Knitting Factory, Rogan, Steven Alan, Selia Wang, New York Academy of Art, Vino Vino, M1-5 Lounge, Megu, Odeon, Bouley, American Apparel, and many more, 70 Franklin Street and 71 Leonard Street are prime retail or restaurant opportunities.

Upper West Siders can stop wondering what will move into the big corner retail space at 325 Columbus Ave. at 75th Street, home until last year to Express. It will soon be a Duane Reade.

The pharmacy took about 9,000 square feet on three levels.

CB Richard Ellis’ Andrew Goldberg, whose team represented the landlord, said the asking rent at ground level was $300-plus a square foot. Winick Realty repped the tenant.

Lest anyone snark about Duane Reades being on every block, this will be the chain’s first on Columbus – an avenue crammed with sportswear shops and restaurants but short on neighborhood conveniences.

REBNY presents Retail Deal of the Year awards at annual cocktail party

The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) recently presented its 2007 Retail Deal of the Year Awards, which recognize the most creative and significant retail deals, at the Retail Committee’s annual cocktail party at the 101 Club.

Jeffrey Winick of Winick Realty Group, LLC won the award for the retail deal that Most Significantly Benefits Manhattan for Columbus Village on Columbus Avenue between West 97th and West 100th Streets.

The five building, multi-level retail space at Columbus Village, with 400,000 square feet of retail space and 65,000 square feet of community use space, was planned as a West Side regional shopping attraction rather than a bunch of neighborhood retail stores. The project will create 700 residential units and roughly 1,000 full- and part-time jobs with reputable retailers. These early deals, which were submitted for consideration, are only the beginning for the Columbus Village project, which will permanently alter the retail landscape of this part of the Upper West Side. In addition, the project will be a pioneer of multi-level retailing in residential buildings in Manhattan.
